WWII US GI match safe or weather proof case 1944 originals

Description

This is an original WWII US Army match safe. This is for keeping your stick matches dry. They have a striker pad under the lid and at one time one on the bottom. (it has fallen out over time)  Some were in the original boxes when we found then. Sad part is that the boxes were so dry rotted, they fell apart to the touch. So, needless to say, these don't come with the original boxes. We have included a picture of one of the good boxes we found (for reference purposes only) so you can see how these were originally packaged and prove they are 1944 dated  WWII era originals.
These are very dusty from the old boxes and long term storage. Some of the strikers under the lid are used or have been replaced.
