    Description

    WWII Mid-war Musette Bag M1936 (“C. W. BRENEMAR 1943”) Excellent++!!
    - This is the
    OFFICER’S FIELD BAG, M1936
also issued to and carried by
    Paratroopers
    ,
    NCOs, Tankers, Medics
    , personnel with
    Crew-served weapons
    . These
    M1936 Field Bags
were also “standard travel luggage” for
    AAF personnel, Bomber crews
    .
    - These
    Musette Bags
    hung from the turrets of
    Lee, Stuart,
    and
    Sherman tanks
    and
    Jeep’s
in every theater of the war.
    - By 1944 much Army contract gear was being supplied to the
    U. S. Marine Corps
    , especially the
    1st MAR DIV,
despite the Corps having many similar proprietary items, such as their
    USMC-specific  M1936 Musette Bag.
    - Made of single-ply heavy
    OD#3 CANVAS Duck.
    -
    ZERO
fraying, major staining, holes, stray markings, or corrosion to the metal hardware. Only the slightest wear to the finish on the
    Black Snap
    Hooks
    and the
    Black Ball Tips
    on the 1” Web Straps.
    - The bottom of the Bag is

    A.S.N.
prefixed by an indistinguishable letter, which may be the letter ‘
    O
’ denting Officer ownership. Stamped twice on the underside of the Flap.
    - Far superior to the
    M1928 Haversack
, which to access in combat was an exercise in “origami” folding and unfolding.
    - As expected on a mid-war,
    1943
dated piece of web gear, all of Hardware (
Adjustable Buckles, “Convex” Friction Buckles, Buttons, D-Rings, Ball Tips, Snap Hooks)
    is made of
    stamped Blackened STEEL
    .
    - The
    “U.S.”
cypher on the Flap is bold and legible.
    - This manufacturer,
    "C. W. BRENEMAR 1943"
is a rarely seen name on WW2 web gear.
