Description
To defeat Japan, US power in the Pacific grew to include thousands of warships and 6 full divisions of Marines. After turning the tide at Guadalcanal, the Leathernecks slugged it out with the Japanese island by island on the long, hard road to Tokyo. US Marines early in WW2 were issued the khaki shelter half, which they most often carried in a "horseshoe" shaped roll around the pack with matching khaki straps. This USMC Marine US WW2 EARLY KHAKI SHELTER HALF ROLL UP STRAP is in very good condition, with a large spot of dark brownish soiling at the interior and exterior back end, and with some light overall spot soiling and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the strap is in fine shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the tough khaki cotton duck construction. Most interestingly, it sports a fully intact darkened brass front buckle, measures 35" long, and is a fine example of a rare, original USMC Marine US WW2 EARLY KHAKI SHELTER HALF ROLL UP STRAP. No mating strap or shelter half included. Now celebrating over 20 years on eBay.
