The ubiquitous US Army Jeep of WW2 was loved by the troops, as it could seemingly go anywhere through any kind of terrain and weather. Used on all fronts, from steaming jungles to searing deserts to the biting winter in the ETO, troops initially carried small arms in outboard leather scabbards from the bygone Cavalry days. These left the weapons exposed to the elements, which hindered their reliability. A specially designed "under the dash" universal rifle rack was developed to provide a secure mounting for these arms while keeping moisture and grime out of the operating mechanisms. This US Army WW2 JEEP M-1 GARAND CARBINE M-1903 SPRINGFIELD UNIVERSAL RIFLE RACK is in good condition, with the screw at the right top remaining loose and difficult to secure, some loose stitching to the right edge of the OD canvas pad on the lever at the right underside, and with some overall patina and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the rack is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough metal construction, which retains approximately 75% of the original OD finish. Most interestingly, it boasts the classic metal levers and OD canvas pads at the underside, sports all of the original metal mounting hardware throughout, and measures 39" long overall.
