Original WWII Life, Preserver, Belt USN M-1926 D-Day Invasion Belt JAN 20 1944.
The Life, Preserver, Belt as the standard U.S. Navy preserver provided to all U.S. Army Soldiers on troop transports and landing craft for amphibious operations in World War II. It could be inflated by using the CO2 cartridges in the belt buckle or manually inflating it via the black rubber tubes.  These are the ones used during the invasion of Fortress Europe on D-Day at Normandy. This one is dated JAN 20 1944. It is in very good condition for being 77 plus years old. It still has the two CO2 cartridges in the belt which appear to be spent and all the hardware is present. It still appears to hold air for short periods (although use is not recommended.  This one appears to have a contract number but is very hard to read. The manufacturer is SODA KING. The belt is in good shape with no apparent rips, tears or snares it's clean and color is good with normal  wear /fading since it does not hold air for long it can be assumed from age the glue joints might be dried out or it may have a pin hole leak. This is a great display piece and getting harder to find.
Please check out photographs as they are part of the description.
