    Description

    Antique WWI-WWII Waltham US Military Field Compass.
    Solid brass pocket watch style case compass with a Military US on its lid made by the Waltham Watch Company. It contains a glass bezel, clean disc, a working latch, and the needle still points North. This was original field gear for servicemen and aviators. The compass measures 1.5" by 2.5" (top of ring to pin). As I understand it, mygrandfather used this compass as a Seaman in the US Coast Guard in WWI and for assisting with Navy intelligence in WWII. To be able to wear the compass around his neck, he made the necklace out of marlin because of how seaworthy marlin is. A couple of very smalldings/scratches, but generally in excellent shape.
